Toes.
Elsa has discovered the joy of chewing on her toes.
For those that don’t think we have somehow evolved from monkeys, well, you’ve never met a baby.
Or a monkey.

Fashionista.
Between the blue eyes, rosie cheeks, and good humor, I’d say Elsa has it made.
Lucky girl.

The Scarf.
My mother loves scarves. She wears them a lot and buys them from places like Talbots.
Always classic.
The other day Hollis took this dish towel and wrapped it around his neck and said:
“Look Mommy, just like Grammy”!
He captured the scarf impeccably through a dish towel.
Always a classic.

Snoozer.
Elsa has started to want to hold a snuggly blanket when she goes to sleep.
Today she was sleeping and holding it up to her face.
So sweet.

Wrinkles.
Jed has lines around his eyes.
He did not have them when we met nine years ago, but slowly, over time, they have appeared.
Each one tells its own story.
Of love. Of loss. Of growing up.
I love his wrinkles.
Divine.

Shadow Play.
The lighting is tricky in Elsa’s room. It always creates a shadow of me above her as I take the photo.
I like that imperfection.
Much like in life, it creates a dual role in the photograph.

Reach.
As Jed and I continue to contemplate the possibility of moving continents I cannot help but have a twang of excitement.
Such a daunting endeavor, it is hard to even think it could come to fruition.
But if Elsa can reach out and grab what she focuses on then why can’t we all?
Because really, it’s all the same thing just on different sized scales…

Happy Birthday, Hollis!
Today Hollis turns three. If you ask him, though, he will tell you that he is turning two or four or five or six.
NOT three.
So, you know, the party should be interesting.
