25.

This picture was taken of Jed in 2004. He was on vacation in Spain.

I was meant to be on this vacation but we had broken up some weeks before and so I did not go…

I still haven’t seen Spain.

Looking at this picture I can tell he is unhappy.

His eyes give it away.

Wrinkles.

Jed has lines around his eyes.

He did not have them when we met nine years ago, but slowly, over time, they have appeared.

Each one tells its own story.

Of love.
Of loss.
Of growing up.

I love his wrinkles.

Divine.

“Home again, home again, jiggety jig”.

Back from out of town, Jed shows Hollis his new Droid phone.

We are a nation divided.

Day Before Elsa’s Arrival.
I took this picture the day before Elsa was born.
What I didn’t know was how much of an adjustment her arrival would be for Hollis. I was naive in thinking the transition would be smooth and without hiccup.
I was wrong.
So wrong that I made Jed, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, write a behavior plan for our own son.
I felt like I had failed as a parent.
Four months later things are 85% back to normal…
And I’m exhausted.
